🌿 Proposed Median Landscaping Improvements – Community Input Requested

The William Bartram Scenic & Historic Highway Board would like to share an exciting update regarding potential landscaping enhancements along the Scenic Highway corridor—and we invite your feedback.

🌱 Preliminary Design Concepts

The Florida Department of Transportation District 2 Landscape Architect’s Office has developed preliminary conceptual designs for new median plantings along State Road 13.

These concepts include a thoughtful mix of:

  • Crepe myrtle trees
  • Live oak trees
  • Perennial peanut groundcover

The proposed plantings would replace sections of aging trees and sparse grass, enhancing both the beauty and ecological value of the corridor.

📍 Project Scope & Timeline

A landscaping project from Davis Pond Road south to Roberts Road is currently included in FDOT’s Fiscal Year 2029–2030 Work Program as part of its Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).

In addition, FDOT is considering expanding these enhancements further north—from Julington Creek Bridge to Davis Pond Boulevard—pending community input and support.

🗣️ Community Input Matters

Before moving forward with any expansion or budget amendments, FDOT is seeking feedback from residents and stakeholders along the Scenic Highway.

This is an important opportunity to help shape the future of this corridor.
